How Does WP Tech Support Handle Website Backups?

Website backups are a critical part of every business’s online presence. They protect against data loss caused by site errors, malware attacks, server issues and more. Backups are created at the same time as your live site, but they’re separate files and databases. This makes them easy to restore in the event of a disaster or security breach. They also provide a safe space to experiment with plugins or themes without impacting your live site.

At WP Tech Support we take your website backups very seriously and take nightly, incremental backups of both your site’s files and database. These backups are stored on our production servers for up to 60 days. These backups are excluded from our reported disk usage for your account. If you’re looking for additional backups or are looking to move your current production backups to another environment, we offer an hourly backup add-on that will create a new restore point every 6 hours for 24 hours.

WP Tech Support also offers Pro plans with our partners at WP Engine that allow us to create backups at a more frequent interval. These daily backups are stored for up to 14 days and provide the same level of protection as our WP Tech Support plans.

The goal of any good WordPress site owner is to have a website that is up and running at all times. This means keeping your site’s elements updated with the latest version of WordPress, performing consistent security scans and implementing updates when prompted.

But it’s not uncommon for even the most careful website owners to encounter errors or security threats that prevent a site from being fully functional. This is where a backup comes in, allowing you to revert back to an earlier version of your website and avoid any lost data.

Whether your site is experiencing problems because of a malware attack, human error, or an issue with a plugin or theme conflict, the ability to restore your website is essential for any business. There are many ways to create and manage website backups, but it’s important that you have at least three different copies in multiple places (like CD/DVDs, thumbdrives, other hard drives, web disk or your e-mail account) so that one can be used to recover a site should the need arise. The restore process takes a few minutes to several hours depending on the size of your site and the number of files in it. Once it’s complete, an email notification is sent to the addresses listed in your Settings > General tab.

Alternatively, you can also use the WordPress dashboard to create an on-demand backup and download it to your computer for offline restoration later. This is especially helpful when you want to create an on-demand backup before making any significant changes, updating plugins or themes, or testing new design elements on your site. You can do this by going to the Production panel and selecting Backups.
